Small businesses looking for strategies to raise capital have an opportunity to learn about crowdfunding at a special presentation hosted by Snell & Wilmer LLP and Impact Business Accelerators.

The event is slated for noon Oct. 10 at the Innovations Incubator in Chandler, 145 S. 79th St. Small companies from Chandler and throughout the East Valley are invited to attend.

Equity crowdfunding was legalized as part of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act, which was signed into law earlier this year. Once regulations go into effect, businesses will be able to raise capital and funds through the Internet without previously restrictive SEC regulations.

“Crowdfunding will provide startups and growth companies here in Arizona with an exciting new way to raise capital, and will hopefully help address, at least in part, the capital formation challenges that have confronted local companies for decades,” said Brian Burt, presenting partner from Snell & Wilmer.

In addition to a discussion on crowdfunding, the presentation will provide insight on identifying opportunities and small business acceleration strategies.

“Learning about how to raise capital, especially as new legislation makes it more accessible, is critical to any emerging company,” said Chandler Economic Development Director Christine Mackay.
